Mary Hinton-Brown Obituary

Mary Hinton-Brown was born in Newark, NJ on November 5, 1949 and received her wings on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

Mary was educated in the Woodbridge school system and later attended Union County College.  She was previously employed by the former Woodbridge State School and Plainfield Urban Development.  After 31 years of service, Mary retired from the City of Perth Amboy as the Technical Assistant to the Construction Official.

Mary was previously active in several organizations including: The Perth Amboy Democratic Party and a member of the Perth Amboy P.B.A.

Mary was a fun and loving person who enjoyed traveling with family and friends and shopping.  She loved to cruise and some of her memorable vacations were: cruising the Caribbean, traveling through Europe, jaunting through Hawaii.  Her last vacation was a 12-day road trip where she went to Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.  She took her role as Matriarch of our family very seriously and was the glue that kept the family together. Even through her illness, she was right there never complaining.  Mary was very dedicated to her husband, daughter, family and friends.

Mary was a very giving and unselfish person, never one to say no to anyone.  “Our loss is indeed Heaven’s gain.”

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Richard Johnson, grandparents, Edwina and Joseph Garretson and an aunt, Doris Hammond.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Arthur, loving daughter Antowon “Toni” Bennerman (Kenneth), stepson Blake Brown, granddaughter Bria Bennerman, grandson Dajhaun Bennermaan and great-granddaughter Nylah Bennerman. Cousins who were more like sisters, Andrea Adair (Arthur), Deniece Fitch (Pete) and Robbin Chambers. Her aunt Pazetta Gallagher, sister-in-law Michelle Brown-Hicks (Woodrow). Her godchildren Tahjmere and Tiahjay O’Neal and a host of family and friends.
