Rosie Lee Tukes, 68, was born on September 29, 1949, a lifetime resident of Somerville, New Jersey, she passed away at home on Thursday, February 1, 2018.
Rosie was affectionately called Rosita by loved ones and friends. She worked for Somerset County Recycling (SCR) starting in 1989 and was the first black woman to work there. She attended the Bridgewater school system.
Rosie enjoyed collecting gadgets, giving gifts to her many family members and friends. Rosie’s favorite pastime was caring for her grandson Tyrese.
Rosie was predeceased by her father Booker Tukes and mother Leona Tukes, brothers Booker Tukes, Jr, William Tootes, Jimmy Tootes, Tommy Tootes, Emmanuel Brantley, Henry Tukes Sr. and sister Lizzie Tukes.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Schelle Gray, son Tommy Gray and grandson Tyrese Gray; four sisters Gladys Mills, Helen Williams (Lit), Betty Black, Priscilla Johnson (Sherman); one brother Thomas Tukes all of New Jersey; one Godson: Isaiah Black and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
