Andre DuBose Obituary

Andre Darnell DuBose was born May 15, 1963 to Jean Simpson and Isaiah DuBose in New

York, NY. In 1975, Andre became the proud brother to his only sibling, Che Simpson. After

attending Blessed Sacrament School and Cardinal Hayes High School, Andre went on to study

Criminal Justice at John Jay College in New York, NY. With his love for serving his community,

he became an auxiliary officer at the 52nd Precinct in Bronx, NY.

Andre relocated to New Jersey in the 1980s, and married Doreen Rodgers on September 9,

1989, amongst a host of family and friends. Through this union, they raised their son, Hakim

Michael Wilson, and daughter, Carla Renee DuBose.

Andre was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons with a Prince Hall affiliation.

A charismatic Andre was able to make an honest living as a salesman from his early days at

Tops Appliance City, to P.C. Richards & Sons, Giant Carpet, Merchant Services Incorporated

and ultimately Cablevision as a leader amongst his peers. Known by friends and colleagues as

“Dre” and “Andy” he was often referred to as the life of the party.

Andre was loved by many and fondly remembered for his infectious smile and quirky humor.

This led him to pursue a brief career in comedy, which landed him the opportunity to showcase

his talent at the McDonald’s Gospel Fest in the early 2000s.

An avid lover of music, Andre’s home was often filled with the deep base vibes of house music

or sultry R&B classics, especially from favorite artist Luther Vandross. His love of music and the

arts also extended to his affinity for writing and poetry. In fact, Andre was working on writing a

stage play before he passed.

Andre departed this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. He was preceded in death by mother,

Jean Simpson and father, Isaiah DuBose.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Doreen Rodgers-DuBose; son, Hakim Michael

Wilson; daughter, Carla Renee DuBose; brother, Che Simpson; and a host of other relatives,

friends, and loved ones.
