Wilmeta Williams Obituary

It is written in 2 Corinthians 5:1 the following: “When we die and leave these bodies, we will have wonderful new bodies in heaven, homes that will be forevermore, made for us by God himself, and not by humans.” Our loved one, Wilmeta Patricia Williams, aka Pat, age 68, passed away on Saturday, July 20 2019.  She was born to the late Asheville Williams Sr.  and Hattie Williams on October 1, 1950 in Newark, NJ.

Pat attended Westside High School in Newark, NJ.  She worked at the University of Medicine and Dentistry as the Associate Director of WIC program for 25 years and later retired in 2009.  She was a longtime member of Saint Lukes AME Church in Newark, NJ.

Pat was fiercely independent and an entrepreneur.  She donated her time to the community by being a Girl Scout Leader for several years.  Her love for children and passion to help others opened the doors to her becoming a foster parent for nearly 7 years and the raising of her brothers’ and sister’s children.  Pat loved hard and there were no limits to what she would do for her family and friends.

Pat loved sewing, traveling the world, Broadway plays, Opera, shopping for exotic items and the hottest fashions. Lord and Taylor was her home away from home.  She prided herself on having the finer things in life and taking care of others.  These trademarks were passed on to everyone she raised.

Pat was preceded in death by: her brothers, Andre Williams, Earl Williams, Michael Williams, Reginald Williams Sr., and her sister, Pheyon Williams and grandsons, Marquis Akins, and Malik Williams.

Pat leaves to cherish her children: Alicia Burrell (Christopher Burrell), Terrance Williams (Shunta Mitchell), Reginald Williams Jr. (Natasha Williams), Hakiem Williams (Jennifer Williams), Kareem Williams (Shaquanna Banks), sisters: Mary Petty (Reginal Petty), Trena Williams (Fantroy Wallace), brother: Asheville Williams Jr., and 13 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
