Amber Shoiban Jones, 32, of Somerville, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unapologetic individuality.
She was born on September 12, 1992, in Somerville and was the youngest daughter of Billie Kaye Jones and Rodrick Ashmon. She was affectionately known to her parents as Angel and Monk-bee.
Amber was educated at Somerville High School and Somerset Academy and later pursued a brief study in nursing at Raritan Valley Community College.
Amber had a profound love for the stars and clouds—with snow clouds being her favorite. She was affectionately known to the immediate family as a “walking Snapple fact,” always ready to share fun and surprising information from her latest research. She shared a deep bond with her brother over music and comedy, often capturing hilarious Snapchat reels of their mother fussing over the small stuff. She was also known for her gift of gab—boy, could she talk! Travel was another passion, and the Bahamas was one of her favorite and most frequently visited destinations.
From a young age, Amber developed a love for cooking, especially baking confetti cakes—and She occasionally took on catering opportunities through various food delivery apps. A spirited Pop Warner cheerleader, she also had a love for challenging puzzles and intricate designs. Amber had a unique eye for finding special items and was known for her creativity and resourcefulness. She and her sister Ashley found strength in the Serenity Prayer, a sentiment that remained close to their hearts.
Amber was admired for her hustler spirit, fearless honesty, and unwavering loyalty. She gave boldly to those she loved yet had no hesitation in protecting her peace by walking away—sometimes, without notice.
She began her career as a Certified Resident Assistant at Advoserv, where she cared for adults with disabilities and elderly community members, including Mrs. Holiness. In 2022, she launched her own cleaning business, Northstar, which she proudly operated. At times, extending job opportunities to friends. In between clients, she also worked as an Animal Handler at K9 Resorts.
In her free time, Amber showed love through acts of service, often cleaning friends’ and family members’ homes, borrowing supplies from her mother when needed. An animal lover through and through, she adored her dogs, GuWop and Lucky, her cat, Sapphire, and a foster bird named Penny. Her favorite artist was Gucci Mane, whose influence inspired her nickname, “Burr.”
Amber was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Aspyn Kali Jones, her grandmother, Karen Jones, and her aunt, Crystal Jones. She leaves behind her devoted mother, Billie Kaye Jones, and father, Rodrick Ashmon; her brother, LeAndre Jones; her sisters, Ashley Jones and Riley Ashmon; and her grandparents, David Jones, Baxter Ashmon, and Vella Ashmon. She is also survived by a loving community of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and close friends who will forever cherish her vibrant and fearless spirit.
