Andrew D Curry

Andrew David Curry affectionately known as “AD” or “Andy”, 76, departed this life on November 21, 2022, at Center for Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.

Andrew was born in Wayne County, Georgia on July 13, 1946, to the late Verna Lee Curry and Tommy Russell. He attended school in Wayne County, Georgia and graduated from Wayne County Training School. At the age of 17, he relocated to Newark, New Jersey with his father.

Andrew worked with his father at an early age in the family business. He was employed for 35 years in construction work. He was an active member of Local #156 now known as Local #77.

Andrew loved the Lord and his church, Antioch Christian Church. He was always available to serve whenever needed. He was a member of the Usher Board, a Trustee, and a Custodian. He took special care of lawn, the garden and was a known as the church handy man. Andrew was outstanding dresser. 

Andrew loved to cook. His specialty was ribs and collard greens. He also loved gardening and animals. He enjoyed training them and he was very good at handling animals. Andrew was a classy man and took pride in how he dressed, and he did it well! Andrew was a people person and loved by many.

In addition to his parents, Andrew was predeceased by two sons, Dewayne Curry and Andy Taylor: and his stepmother, Lida Russell.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories; his loving wife of 32 years, Trudy Curry; his children:  Kenneth Watson, Andrew Curry, La Shawna Curry, Chenoa Curry, Tyre Russell, Kim McMillan (Kiko), Timothy Holmes (Janita), DeAndre Holmes (Dwan), and Lorenzo Williams (Patricia); his siblings: Sam Mcintosh, Voncille Myles, Pauline Parker, Emery Russell, Ulysses Russell, Steven Russell, Rosalind Curry, and Kathryn Sledge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
