Arthur Franklin ”Frank” Hartgrove transitioned peacefully Saturday March 6, 2021 at the PowerBack Rehabilitation Center in Piscataway, NJ at the age of 89.
Frank was born in Faber VA, and lived in Piscataway since 1960. He was employed as a truck driver for Independent Iron & Metal in New Brunswick, as an auto mechanic at Vito’s Service Station, and retired from Suburban Transit Bus Co. in New Brunswick.
In his retirement he enjoyed repairing and restoring cars and lawnmowers for family and friends. He was a former deacon of Travelers Fellowship Baptist Church in Piscataway NJ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Helen Augusta Hartgrove, his parents Arthur and Gracie Hartgrove, brother Gilbert Hartgrove, sisters Juanita “Flossie” Hartgrove, Maggie “Blanche” Hartgrove, Georgia Eubanks, and daughter-in-law Leila “Mae” Hartgrove.
He is survived by his brother, Eddie Hartgrove of Charlottesville, VA; Sister-in-Law Mary “Maggie” Hartgrove of North Brunswick. Also left to mourn his passing are two sons: Timothy Hartgrove and his wife Lolita of Conway, SC; Michael Hartgrove of Edgewater Park NJ; three daughters: Sheila Haynes of Jackson GA, Michelle Mapp and her husband Colin of Austell GA, and Sherri Hartgrove of Piscataway NJ; cherished daughter-in-law Cathy Hartgrove; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one godchild.
