Barbara Ann Evans was born October 25, 1953, to her late parents, Jarvis Junior Evans, and Lillian Evans. She departed this life for her heavenly home on Thursday, December 22nd. Barbara was the seventh child of nine children. She was raised in Newark, NJ and was educated in the Newark Public School system. Barbara graduated from Barringer High School in Newark, NJ. Upon graduating High School, she furthered her education and training and became a Certified Dietitian.
Barbara was employed as a Dietitian with Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ for over twenty years until retirement. She was a very kind woman who loved and adored her family. Barbara was very caring, sensitive, and committed to Christ. She had a servants’ heart and passion for helping others which she displayed by volunteering at numerous Rehabilitation Centers.
Barbara lived her life carrying out Matthew 25:40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
She lived in Newark for many years prior to relocating to Willingboro, NJ. Barbara became a faithful member of Life Giving Word Ministries under the Leadership of Bishop Tony Gardner and Pastor Monica Gardner. Barbara worshipped with this branch of Zion for ten years. She later joined in fellowship with New Jerusalem House of God under the leadership of Senior Pastor and Founder, Irving D. Fryar. At New Jerusalem, she served as an Adjutant to her Pastor. She remained a dedicated member at New Jerusalem until deceased.
Left to cherish her memory are two children; one daughter; Sheila Evans Roundtree, one son, William Carpenter, grandchildren: one granddaughter, Carrie Carpenter, and two grandsons, Jamil Rivers, and Almir Madison; one great-granddaughter, Aylah Rivers, three sisters; Elder Shirley Jones, Phyllis Evans, Minister Geneva Evans, one brother; Henry Evans and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her son-in-law Rudolph Roundtree, one sister; Marie Evans, and three brothers; William Evans, Tom Evans, and Joseph Evans.
