A life well lived and a story 73 years in the making… Carl Arnold Hill, 73, departed this earth on the evening of Monday, December 19, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick.
Carl was born December 16, 1949, in New Brunswick to the late Carrie Bell and Max Hill, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of South River. He was the former physical education teacher at Piscataway High School, Piscataway, NJ; The Independent Alternative School, Newark, NJ; and Irvington High School, Irvington, NJ where he retired. For many years he was a referee official for football, basketball, and track and field. He loved being a blessing to others by having “Lightning Livery Car Service” where he serviced family and friends in South River and neighboring towns. Carl graduated from South River High School, Class of 1967 and Colorado State University, Class of 1971, where he earned a full scholarship for academics and football.
Carl will be remembered for being the funniest of the Hill Clan. He kept it real. Carl will also be remembered for his famous words: “Right or wrong; right or wrong” and “Irie.” He will be remembered for his love of: sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys; western TV shows and movies; playing lotto and buying scratch-offs; leaving with doggie bags; fishing, playing pool, and anything and everything South River, where he was known as “Hillski.” He loved to attend and support his nephews, nieces, and all youth who participated in sports and other activities.
Carl has been reunited with his parents, Carrie Bell and Max Hill, Sr.; brothers, Malik Hamid, Ray, Roger, and Philip Hill; and a sister, Grace Lee.
Carl leaves to cherish his memories: son, Damon Hill; brothers, Max Jr., and Troy (Lisa) Hill; sisters, Yvonne, Bridget and Phyllis Hill; sister-in-law, Sandra Pearson Hill; uncle, Herbert Middleton Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
