Chalana Haney Obituary

Chalana Cherie Haney was born on June 30, 1982, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to Cheryl Denise Haney and E. Kenneth Martin. After a long illness, Chalana peacefully transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 12th.   At a young age, she relocated with her family to St. Louis, Missouri, where she was educated in the St. Louis public schools and graduated from Rockwood Summit High School in 2000. During her high school years, Chalana developed a deep love for the arts, participating in chorus and school plays, including a leading role in Kiss Me, Kate. She was also a devoted member of Lighthouse Free Methodist Church in St. Louis.

After graduating from high school, Chalana and her family relocated to Forestville, MD.  Chalana was active at New Vision Fellowship Church in Forestville which her Father pastored.  Chalana’s passion was music and singing.  Chalana had a lovely voice and was requested to sing at many events in the Maryland area.

Chalana married Arion Long and the family resided in Maryland for many years.  Chalana was the Mother of three sons, Isaiah, Arion Jr.  and Jonah.

Chalana was employed as a Behavior Analyst/Therapist for the Center for Autism.  She had a flair for fashion and enjoyed being versatile with many different looks. She had a special affinity for sunglasses and loved the color purple.  As the years progressed, Chalana expanded her love for music by becoming a songwriter. She pursued her passion wholeheartedly, auditioning for Sunday’s Best and American Idol, embracing every opportunity to share her talent and love of music with others.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons; Isaiah Haney, Arion Long Jr., Jonah Long, her parents, Cheryl Denise Haney, Bishop E.
