Christopher Eugene Bell, affectionately known to all as "Chris" and lovingly remembered as "Morty" by those who knew him best, was born on March 22, 1971 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late Barbara Morris Bell and Calvin E. Bell. Chris transitioned from this life onThursday December 11, 2025, at Novent Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Raised in a Christian home, Chris was a former member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in New Brunswick, NJ and later St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte. NC. He received his early education at Livingston Elementary School and Sacred Heart Catholic School and was a proud graduate of St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick. Chris continued his academic journey at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Class of 1996.
A resident of Charlotte for more than 35 years, Chris began his professional career at Compass Group- USA in the payroll department. He later worked for Delta Airlines and American Airlines, where he was employed at the time of his passing. Chris was an avid reader of newspapers and a devoted sports enthusiast. During his youth, Chris played Pop Warner Football and recreation baseball, as well as high school sports. A die hard NY Jets fan, like his uncle Ernest, who was a long time season ticket holder. Chris enjoyed fellowship with the Jet fans of Charlotte group.
One of Chris's favorite pastimes was attending HBCU football classics and championship games as well as traveling annually to the CIAA Basketball Tournament with his beloved cousins Gregg Hankins and Craig Bell.
Thanks to his airline career, Chris embraced the joy of frequent travel-often flying cross-country to satisfy a food craving, catch a ball game, visit family & friends, try his luck at a casino, or follow his favorite singer, Chante Moore, on tour.
As a proud "Blue Bear", Chris cherished his Livingstone College Family and never missed a"Stonecoming" This year, Chris was excited to be on the yard enjoying Doug E Fresh, Slick Rick, DJ Kool and Carl Thomas. While Livingstone always held his heart, Chris also showed love and support for Johnson C. Smith University by cheering on their athletic teams.
In addition to his parents, and his brother Bradford D. Bell, Chris is predeceased by his grandparents, Walter B Morris Sr. and Francis P Morris; aunts, Josephine Trotman, Phyllis Hailes, Pauline Bell and Mary Bell; and uncles, Thomas, Edward, Ernest, John and James Bell and Walter B. Morris JrChris leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Jacqueline Bradley of New Brunswick, NJ; nieces Brianna Bradley and Tiffani Whitaker, great-nephew Jaxon Christopher Bradley, son Jonathan Robins(Stephanie); grandsons Noah Ryan Robins and Kyler Chapman and his uncle Donald Bell(Elsie). He was also blessed to have a bonus big brother & sister, special cousins Gregg & Sherri Hankins along with a host of cousins, relatives and many dear friends.
Chris was a devoted brother, a supportive and ever-present uncle, a caring father, and a truly special friend to many. Post Master Christopher Bell was a former Worshipful Master of Mt. Carmel Lodge 37 Prince Hall FA Affiliate. He was a stand-up guy-respected for his loving heart, kind words of encouragement, and protective spirit toward those he loved. Friends like Chris are rare, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
