As a young girl she worked on the family farm, and later as a young woman, she worked at the Bluebeard & Blackbeard Castle Hotels, in St Thomas,US Virgin Islands. In the late 1940s, she immigrated to the United States and acquired enough money to purchase a home in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Shortly thereafter, she met and married the late John Benjamin Rogers. After many years, she remarried the late Robert Johnson. From that union was born two children, a daughter, Sharon Viola Thomas, and a son, the late Robert John Johnson.
She was a longtime member of St Peter's Episcopal Church, where she participated in a variety of activities. Constancia embraced many memorable new chapters in her life. She continued to maintain independence, and her life was a testament to her strength and self-reliance.
