Curtis Shambley Obituary

Curtis J. Shambley, affectionately known as “Funcle,” the fun uncle, was a source of joy, laughter, and love to all who knew him. He always had a joke to tell, a story to share, and a way of making everyone around him smile. His warm personality and lighthearted spirit made every gathering a little brighter and every moment a little more memorable.

Curtis was born on June 27, 1949, in Clinton, North Carolina, to Epimetheus Shambley and Pearl Shambley. He graduated from Hargrove High School in 1968 and later moved to New Jersey in the early 1970s, where he established a life centered on hard work, family, and friendship.

Throughout his working years, Curtis was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked in machine shops and as a dock worker before beginning a long career with Yellow Freight, where he was employed from 1987 until 2004. He later worked for Metropolitan Distribution from 2004 until retiring in 2008.

Outside of work, Curtis enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures. He loved his cars and took great pride in them. He enjoyed sharing a cold beer with family and friends, telling stories, and spending time with the people he loved most. His sense of humor, generosity, and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Epimetheus Shambley and Pearl Shambley. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Nancy Shambley; his children, Tracey Parker-Camara, Curtis Brown, Demond Brown, Nikeya Stewart, Latoya Brown-Clark, Ajaiah Roulette, and Tamesha Brown; his loving sister, Carolyn Shambley-Livingston; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

His beloved wife, Nancy, shared these heartfelt words:
"He was the kindest, funniest man that I knew.
I loved every moment of being with him."
One of Curtis's favorite scriptures was Matthew 11:28:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Today, we celebrate a life well lived and a man deeply loved. Though he is no longer with us in body, the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the memories he created will remain with us always. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his spirit will never be forgotten.
