Daryl Session

Our beloved Daryl Anthony Session, age 63, passed away on June 9, 2023. He was born on February 12, 1960, in New Brunswick, NJ to Samuel Jenkins and the late Ruby Session McFarland.  

Even while growing up with a great number of brothers and sisters, he stood out. He was well-liked and created lifelong bonds while attending New Brunswick public schools and Tuskegee Institute. Daryl was known as being athletic, having broken records in high school in football and track. He had a great love for sports. Some of his favorites were the Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and the New York Mets.

But Daryl’s first loves were TV and music. He was one of the original Trekkies (Star Trek), he loved of old black and white classics, all genres of music, ranging from Philly Soul all the way to hard rock. He was also an organically intelligent mind, being likened to an almanac because there were few topics that he didn’t know about. Because of this knowledge, he was always ready for a healthy debate.

Despite life taking on many challenges for Daryl, he never lost his spirit. He was a loving and devoted son, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Jenkins and Ruby Session McFarland; four siblings: Jeannie, Joseph, Belinda, and Tanya; and a grandson, Isaiah.

Family left to mourn his passing are his beloved children: Daryl Williams, Lakeema Cole, Lakayla Cole, and Deion Session; two grandchildren, Janiyah Williams and Unique Williams; seven siblings: Edwin “Chubby”, Jonathan (Jeanette), George, Theresa, Michael “Todd”, Saundra, and Samuel (Barbara); a special stepdad, John McFarland; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
