Deanna Lichtenstein, born January 30, 1937, to the late Philip Mauskapf and Lillian Margulies and sister to the late Leonard Mauskapf, died on May 13, 2026, at age 89. Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., she attended James Madison High School. At 19, she married Barry Lichtenstein. They moved from Staten Island to Bridgewater, N.J. to raise their four daughters. Deanna enhanced Barry’s Chiropractic practice with her business acumen. She also worked as a travel agent and enjoyed ski trips in Europe.
After her husband’s passing in 2012, she bought a home in Boynton Beach, Fla. and spent her later years living the snowbird life between Florida and Westfield, N.J. with Tino Cintorrino, her best friend and former hairdresser for more than 50 years. Deanna raved about Tino’s cooking, praising his meals as better than any restaurant, and her hair always looked fabulous.
Deanna’s love and warmth radiated when surrounded by the family she adored—her daughters, Cindy McCollum, Suzanne Stahl, Elizabeth Lichtenstein (husband Greg Avery), and Deborah Peckman (husband Marcus), and her eight grandchildren, Morgan, Cole, and Clay, Mason, Sam, Elijah, Zach, and Raphael, as well as two great-grandchildren, Luca and Levi.
Deanna’s outgoing personality and ability to make friends with any stranger, whether on a plane, at a party, or in a grocery store made her greatly admired. When asked how she would like to be remembered, she laughed and said, “I loved to have fun.” She lived life intentionally, holding firm to her beliefs and remained strong-willed up to the very end. She is unforgettable.
