Deborah Hobbs Jewett

January 17, 1937 – June 16, 2021

Deborah Jewett, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021. Deborah was born on January 17, 1937 in Somerville, New Jersey. She grew up in Bridgewater Township, in the community called Hobbstown. She was 1 of 14 children. She was predeceased by her parents Charles Robert and Valerie Constance Hobbs.

Deborah attended the Bridgewater Township School System. Her first employment began as a Nurses Aid at Somerset Hospital. In the early 1950’s she worked at Foot Hill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough NJ. In the mid 1960’s Deborah began her career at Ortho Diagnostics, A Johnson and Johnson Company, where she worked in Quality Control for more than 30 years.

Deborah had a very generous spirit. Throughout her life she demonstrated over and over a willingness to help and to give to those in need. She understood that life required hard work and strived to provide all she could for her children so they would have a brighter future.

Pentecostal roots ran deep within Deborah’s heart. She, from childhood, lived a life for Jesus Christ.  She received her religious training from her grandmother, Reverend Ruth Brown, who pastored the Shiloh Pentecostal Church, and her mother. Deborah had her father’s independence and her mother’s dedication with regard to salvation.

Deborah learned the lesson plan that God laid out for her life. She returned to her childhood training of faith in Christ. Now we can rest in knowing that she is at peace with the Lord.

Deborah was predeceased by siblings Charles Jr., Danny, Tony and Brenda.

Deborah is survived by 3 children, 2 sons, Gregory Todd Jewett, Tori Lynn Jewett; a daughter Tamyeka Mae Jewett, her dog Small Fry and a host of grandchildren.

Deborah is also survived by 5 sisters, Ruth, Lois, Connie, Joyce and Claudia; 4 brothers, Jack, Arthur, Kenny, Ronnie and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
