Della B Ferrell Obituary

Della Beatrice Ferrell was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Arthur and Mary Lee Irby on October 26, 1942. Della graduated from Charleston High School in 1960 and attended West Virginia State College for 1 year, where she met her husband Charles “Chaney” Ferrell. Della and Chaney married on April 21, 1962, and would later have 4 children, two daughters and two sons.

Della’s husband, Chaney, worked for AT&T which moved them to Pennsylvania, Virginia, and eventually settling in Piscataway, New Jersey in 1979.  Della was a home maker for several years and she was an exceptional baker and cook.  Everyone raved about her rolls, cakes, and pies. Della was hired at Garfield High School in Dale City, Virginia as a baker, because of her baking expertise. Della was a very social person which allowed her to easily adjust to the various relocations of the family and this also enabled her to work in various types of careers. Della worked as a hostess in a specialty Café, called The Tastebud. She then moved on to become a Teller and supervisor for Bank of America, Branch Manager at a PNC Bank in Newark, NJ.  Her last position was with McKesson in Somerset, NJ as a Customer Service Specialist.

Della belonged to a non-profit social women’s organization called the Links.  She participated in the organization from the early 2000’s to 2012.

Della entered into the realm of peaceful rest on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the age of 80-year-old.  After her prolonged illness, God called his daughter to his side.  She was preceded in death by her Mother Mary Lee Burks, Father Arthur Henry Irby, Husband Charles W. Ferrell, Grandson Khalif R. Privott, Son Eric W. Ferrell and Great-grandson Deacon P. Dunbar.

She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers Wiley Irby, Robin Burks; Sisters – Maureen Dillard, Lisa Schwab; daughters – Sheri Hunt (Dwayne), Michele Privott (Ronald); and Son – Kerry Ferrell. Granddaughters – Ashley Ferrell, Dania Dunbar (Kurt), Kiana Pelzer (Jamar), Tajai Ferrell, and Erica Ferrell; Grandson – Jordan Privott; Great-grandsons – Dwayne Hunt, Karter Dunbar, Jayce Ferrell, Ian Pelzer and Great-granddaughter Kori Dunbar.
