Diane Crawford Obituary

Deacon Diane Crawford, a faithful servant of the Lord, was born on May 21, 1956, and departed this life on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late Velma Lee Crawford and the late Carey Crawford, Diane leaves behind a daughter, Cari Lynn Johnson and her son-in-law, Daniel Johnson; three grandsons, Travis J. Johnson, Tre’von C. Johnson and Trustin J. Johnson from Baltimore Maryland; two bonus grandchildren, Daniel L. Johnson and Shelby Johnson; one bonus daughter, Tiffany Hope; two sisters, Kathy Crawford of Linden NJ, and Bernice Crawford Robinson (Sharon) of Hamilton NJ, and her deceased sister, Linda Crawford; her cousin, David Crawford and a host of other cousins near and dear to her heart.  Also, a host of nieces and nephews, Lanee Franklin, Ebony Thompson, Breeanna Frias, James Crawford, Eric Champ Jr, Jose Reyes and the late Chanel Crawford. Diane also leaves to cherish her extended family Albert Wong, Phyllis Campbell, Evelyn Vas, Patricia Blocker, Iris Gonzalez, Iris Rodriguez, Loretha ‘Wheetie’ Bingham, Reverend Tina Adams, Deborah Adams, Monique Jemerson, and Denise Garrison. Diane’s extended work family Danielle Gonzalez, Jessica Vasquez, Lisa Bonilla, Raquel Torres and Godchildren Danyelle Blocker and Brandon Vas.

Deacon Diane Crawford served the Cathedral International in Perth Amboy, Asbury Park, Plainfield and Iglesia Catedral with excellence for over 30 years as a leader and faithful servant of the Lord. She served as the Treasurer of the Deacon Board, counting the money every Sunday, she served as the Trustee of the Cathedral Community Development Corporation (CCDC), serving in all areas - the Cathedral Community Soup Kitchen, the Mercy House, the Clothing Outreach and writing grants for the prison outreach. Her service is unwavering! Deacon Diane was also the ministry head of the Discipleship ministry and instrumental in the Police Academy League in raising $30,000 to open the doors of the PAL. Deacon Diane worked as a phenomenal educator in the Perth Amboy public school district. She retired from teaching special education and served as a prominent member of the Perth Amboy Board of Education prior to serving on the Board, she was the president of the Perth Amboy American Federation of Teachers. She was also appointed as Commissioner of the Perth Amboy Housing Authority. In addition, Diane was also a core member of the Democratic Committee and the Black History month recipient for Middlesex County as a Black Union leader in 2021.  Her favorite scripture was Romans 8:28.
