Flora D. Bryant was born in Phoenix, AZ on March 8, 1948 to the late Willie D. Bell, Sr. and Georgia L. Terry. Flora was a product of the schools of Phoenix, graduating from Phoenix Union High School. She would later receive her Associates degree.
In the early 1970’s Flora relocated to the Bronx, NY. She later moved to South Plainfield, NJ where she lived for many years until finally settling in Somerset, NJ where she lived until her death.
Flora was married to Leroy Williams, Sr. until their divorce. In 1980, she married Ellis Bryant with whom she remained married until 1988.
She was employed by Johnson and Johnson, Inc. as an Administrative Assistant. In later years she worked for the Government Affairs Department until she retired in 2003.
At a young age, Flora accepted Christ as her personal savior, and remained a faithful servant until her death. As an active member of the Rose of Sharon Community Church in Plainfield, NJ Flora had served as an Adjunct to the Bishop, Usher Board President and a Deaconess. Prior to joining Rose of Sharon, she was a member of Traveler’s Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served as Usher Board President and Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees under the leadership of Rev. Payne.
Flora was a representative on the National Usher Society and Door Keepers of the Eastern Region for the State of NJ. While representing NJ, she served as the Editor/Chairperson for the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of NJ office with the National United Church Association of America as part of the Eastern Region Church Ushers Association.
In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded in death by her siblings Willie D. Bell, Jr., Tommy L. Bell. Robert J. Bell, Thelma Bell, Gloria J. Bell and Annie L. Bell.
On Monday, September 5, 2022, Flora peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family.
Her love, memory and inspiration will forever be cherished by her beloved sons Jeffrey L. Hunter and Leroy Williams (Tanya); her sister Roxie Williams Packard; her granddaughter Earan J. Williams; her godchildren Semaj Harrison and Kayla Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
