Fred Boyd, Jr. Obituary

Fred Thomas “Tommy” Boyd Jr. was born on August 24, 1973, in New Brunswick, NJ, to Fred T. Boyd Sr. and Korion Williams. He graduated from Franklin High School in Somerset, NJ, in 1991. Tommy was baptized at a young age and was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

Tommy was a devoted member of El Bethal Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ, under the guidance of Bishop James Gaines, and later joined First Baptist Church of Kenilworth, NJ, under Reverend Nathan Gainer.

Tommy met and married Bridgette Cooper, and together they were blessed with six children: Porschia, Thomas, Travis, Paige, Treyvon, and Troix Boyd. He was also the proud father of Cortleigh Boyd, whom he loved dearly.

Known for his independence and passion for working outdoors, Tommy was a tow truck driver for Dependable Motors for many years, becoming a well-known figure in the Somerset and New Brunswick communities. He also worked alongside his close friend, Louie, owner of Louie Construction, and most recently was employed at Miele/CDS.

Tommy was a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan, often engaging in lively and heated discussions about football, especially during Super Bowl season, in a household full of football enthusiasts. Tommy was known for his friendly nature and could strike up a conversation with anyone at any time.

He was predeceased by his father, Fred T. Boyd Sr., and his stepfather (bonus dad), Sylvester Williams. Tommy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Bridgette, his seven children Porschia (Markeese), Thomas, Travis (Mildred), Paige, Treyvon, Troix, and Kortleigh Boyd, his mother Korion Williams, brothers Christopher, LyCurtis, and Karon, sister Fannie, his aunt and uncle Etheleen and Ronald Ross, mother-in-law Betty Cooper, two sisters-in-law Channel and Kiana, and ten grandchildren and a host of relatives and special friends.
