Fred Orange Obituary

Fred Orange was born on April 13th, 1946, to Mrs. Alice H. Orange, and the late Mr. Daniel Orange Sr. in Waycross, Georgia.  He was the 2nd of 10 children born to this glorious union.  Fred departed this life on Thursday, February 10th, 2022, at St. Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey when God dispatched His angels to embrace Fred, and usher him Home.

Fred graduated from Central High in Waycross, Georgia in 1965 with a 4.0 average.  He was an “all around” sportsman at heart, but Football was truly his passion.  He then journeyed to Jacksonville, Florida, where he attended Edward Waters College, and earned an Associate Accounting Degree.  Fred was proud to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Seaboard Coastline Railroad (now CSX) in Miami Florida.

Fred was called to serve in the United States Army by way of Fort Benning, Georgia and served in the Vietnam War.  He was injured during wartime, but God spared his life, and upon completion of Military service to his country, he was Honorably Discharged in 1972.  Fred was proud of the time spent in the US Army.  He encouraged his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and all youth within his influence to consider the choice to serve in a Branch of the US Armed Forces.  Fred was active in many Veteran groups and organizations.

Fred had a heart & mind to achieve excellence and embraced any opportunity to expand his knowledge.  He became interested in pursuing a career in Computer Science, and eventually relocated to New York, where he met, and married Johnnie Mae Coney (deceased), and was blessed with 4 beautiful children which are the jewels of his life.

Fred was employed at the New York Telephone Company for over 25 years and held various positions in the field of Information Management.  Upon retirement from the NY Telephone Company, he worked under Contract with several companies, the longest was with M&M Mars Corporation of New Jersey.  He then accepted a permanent position with Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals in New Jersey.

Fred was a true man of God, loved The Lord, and was committed to serving Him.  He loved reading the “Word of God”, and always sought to increase his knowledge and understanding of the Bible.

He always wanted to be prepared to share the Gospel of peace with anyone that may ask the question, “what must I do to be saved”.

Fred studied the Word of God at various institutions throughout his career.  He attended Lighthouse Christian College, and earned both a Bachelor, and a Master’s Degree in Theology.  He attended New York City Community College, earning an Associate Degree in Accounting.  He also attended Tabernacle Bible Institute in Piscataway, NJ and was certified in several disciplines.

When God brought Fred to New Brunswick, NJ in 1996, he became a member of Deliverance Prayer Revival Tabernacle, under the leadership of Pastor Elois Bellamy.  Fred met many friends, neighbors, and business acquaintances along the way, and held several dear to his heart.  The most precious of all friends whom he met along life’s way, was his friend, Roberta D. Burton, who later became his wife, and the love of his life.

He was steadfast & unyielding in his faith in God, and standard for life.  Right was “right”, and wrong was “wrong”, and that was it!  His principles were always the same.  He always encouraged everyone to seek the Lord while he may be found.

Fred always had a heart to share.  It was not long after he arrived that he began to teach Sunday school, and Wednesday night Bible study.  A was an ordained Elder, and one of his greatest joys was working on with the Food Bank ministry.

Through all his travels Fred never forgot home.  Georgia was always on his mind, as he would share stories of his family, and friend back home.  He always looked forward to trips back home.

Fred was predeceased by his father, Daniel Orange, and his oldest brother, Charles Orange.

Left to cherish his life and precious memories: his loving and devoted wife, Roberta D. Burton-Orange; four children, Celina R., Fred II, Roberta L., and Jennifer L.; his mother, Alice H.
