Gregory Fladger Obituary

Gregory Cartrell Fladger, born April 26, 1957, passed away on July 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family. Born in Irvington, NJ  and raised in Newark, NJ. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents Mamie Ruth (Nelson) Fladger and Marion L. Fladger. His life was marked by his dedication to his loved ones and a deep commitment to his professional life.

A proud graduate of West Orange High School, Gregory pursued higher education at Northwestern University and then Rutgers University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Marketing.

One of his greatest joys was the birth of his daughter, Shana Fladger (Jones). He spent his life wholeheartedly raising his daughter, Shana, and was known as a loving and devoted father.

Professionally, Gregory’s career spanned various roles in finance, insurance, and billing. He began his career at Summit Lincoln Mercury as a Sales and Leasing Consultant and most recently served as a Billing Services Representative at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Throughout his career, Gregory was known for his integrity, work ethic, and ability to connect with others.

Gregory had a warm, approachable personality and was known as the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He saw things as absolute and carried a strong work ethic throughout his life. Gregory was fiercely dedicated to his family, never missing a birthday or family gathering, often traveling from New Jersey to Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and South Carolina to be present with his loved ones.

He also loved traveling and exploring new places, having visited the Caribbean, the coasts of California, and many beautiful beaches around the world—including memorable trips to Jamaica, Mexico, and most recently, Thailand.

His passion for sports was unmistakable—he was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and New York Knicks. He closely followed current events, rarely missing his daily dose of CNN. A lifelong fan of Stevie Wonder, Gregory also cherished moments spent at the beach, where he enjoyed swimming and relaxing.

Gregory is survived by his daughter, Shana Jones (Alonzo Jones); his beloved grandchildren, Amari and Corrine Jones; His sister, Sharon Fladger Price, his niece, Shannon L. Price; and his nephew, Andre L. Price and an array of family and friends. His presence, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
