Harold Robinson, Jr. Obituary

Harold R. Robinson, Jr. was an amazing father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He left this physical world on June 4, 2024, at the age of 76.  He was affectionately called “Butch” by his family and “Rob” by friends and family in New Jersey.  He was surrounded by love as he transitioned to eternal peace at Somerset Woods Nursing Home in Somerset, NJ.

He was born to Harold R. Robinson Sr. and Peggy G. Robinson on September 17, 1947, at St. Peters Hospital, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Butch attended Somerville High School, where he was a star athlete in football and baseball. After graduating from Somerville High School in 1967 he was drafted by the US Army and served in the Vietnam War.  He worked as an Audio/Visual Technician at the Sheraton Hotels in Maryland.

On July 27, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Norma Harwitt. Through their union they conceived two daughters, Kijana Nicole (Sean) and Rashanne Marie.

Butch loved life, good people and family.  He loved to dance, and joke and could be counted on to be the life of any party.  He radiated “cool”, and his strut and personality were second to none.

His life will forever be remembered and cherished by:Mother of his Children: Norma Robinson Daughters: Kijana Robinson Welch, Rashanne Robinson Mokren, Grandchildren: Brandon Welch, Shane Welch, Anthony Mokren Siblings: Saundra King (Ray), Linda Jones (Eugene), Dale Robinson, Jacqueline Gordon, Paula Miller (Henray), Cynthia Banks (Kenny), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Butch was predeceased by his parents Harold & Peggy.

The family would like to thank you for your kindness and expressions of love during this very difficult time.  The outpouring of love demonstrates the impact that one’s Soul has on another.

“Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened.” To have experienced the love and friendship of Harold R. Robinson, Jr. was a true blessing. Knowing he is smiling down at us saying “When tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart.  For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.”
