Harold Benjamin Smith Sr., 53, of Aberdeen, Maryland passed away on April 21, 2025 in his home.
Harold was born on October 13, 1971, in Stratford, New Jersey, to the late Lola Mae Hill (Lola Smith).
Harold graduated from Saint Peters High School in 1990. He furthered his education at Kean University.
Harold worked for Delphi (Delco) General Motors for 15 years before they closed. He then moved to North Carolina in 2006, where he worked for Purdue. He relocated to Maryland in 2011 and worked for GAF for several years. For the last 5 years, he was working for National Gypsum in Baltimore, Maryland. Throughout his work career, he also assisted many individuals with their taxes.
Harold took pride in his work ethics. He had a slue of hobbies which included working on cars, bowling, basketball, shooting pool, fishing and crabbing. Some of his greatest memories revolve around basketball. He loved the sport and was very well known for his athleticism. One of Harold’s favorite foods was seafood. Steamed crabs was a tradition that started with his grandmother, Bertha Smith. Anytime the family got together, he would always make sure we had crabs, laughs and everyone was welcome.
Harold had four children, Howie, Yaddie, Brianna and Destiny. He took pride in his children and was very proud of all their accomplishments. Harold welcomed his first grandchild, Lennox, in 2024, who quickly became the pride and joy of his life.
Remaining to cherish Harold’s memory are his children, Harold Smith Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Yadirah Wilson of Lebanon, Tennessee,
Brianna Sweeny of Aberdeen Maryland, and Destiny Smith of San Antonio, Texas, his grandson, Lennox Savage of Aberdeen, Maryland, his siblings, Lola Jenkins (Lulu) of Somerset New Jersey (Manily Jenkins), Sonya Hill/Hush of Elizabeth City, North Carolina (Duan Hush) and Richard Hill Jr. of North Brunswick, New Jersey (Latesha Melvin/Hill), his aunts and uncles Elizabeth Shanks, Peggy McWilliams, Billy Smith and James Smith and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Harold in death are his grandmother, Bertha Smith, his mother, Lola Hill (Smith), step father, Richard Hill Sr., nephew, Christopher Miller, cousin, Angela Shanks (Nikkie), and uncle, Robert Shanks.
Harold would like to be remembered for his phenomenal work ethic, his sense of humor, and his ability to make a good time out of a bad time.
