He was the loving son to the proud parents of the late Victor Ivy Hoagland and Elizabeth Virginia Crumidy Hoagland. He was a loving brother to four pre-deceased sisters: Jaqueline Potts, Norma Jean Watkins, Julie Grachell Hoagland, Mary Hoagland, and three pre-deceased brothers William Watkins, Mario Watkins, and Hilton Hoagland,
Harry died peacefully on August 12, 2023, after a short illness. Harry graduated from New Brunswick Vocational and Technical School where he received his Commercial Boiler Operator Black Seal License. After receiving his Commercial Boiler Operator Black Seal License New Brunswick Vocational and Technical School offered him employment where he spent more than 15 there. Harry also spent time employed as the Director of Art at Job Corps located in Edison, NJ for some time. He really loved hands-on mentoring and teaching children art and music. He was employed lastly at UMDNJ who later merged with Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ right before his passing. Harry was employed by various other schools in the New Jersey area with a total of 49 years of experience in his field.
Harry had numerous hobbies and interests; he was high-spirited and lively; however, the family remembers him as an accomplished artist, amazing singer and musician that had the voice of Stevie Wonder. He was an athlete at heart who enjoyed martial arts and the family often talked about the fact that he was an avid bicyclist and would take bike rides from county to county and to all the local parks. Before he would go on his journey, he would gather all his friends, children, their friends, cousins and their friends to participate. We all enjoyed just being around him. It was always a joyous time of laughing, singing, joking and riding our bikes.
Harry loved to cook and was the family Chef, and prepared excellent gourmet meals for his family to enjoy. Harry was a fashion guru, a sharp dresser and always dressed to impress in the latest fashions. With that being said, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Harry also had a gift for interior design. He would take a broken antique piece of furniture and refurbish it to look brand new. He was a brand of his own!
Harry loved Allah and prayed on his Holy rug five times a day, however during his last days he worked out his soul salvation and Harry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
