Obituary

Herman (Grandpa Eddie/Eddie) Clare Fearon was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies to the late Clarence Fearon and Leanora (Piper) Fearon on July 23, 1939. He departed this life on January 23, 2021.

Eddie attended primary and secondary grades in Clarendon, Jamaica, and the Jamaica School of Arts in Kingston, Jamaica for his formal education. He worked as a Graphic Artist at Art and Publicity Company in Kingston, Jamaica. For better opportunities, Eddie moved to the United States in 1968 where he attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and became a freelance commercial artist for various companies. He also did advertising work for clients such as Tumi Luggage Company, Toys-for-Tots, and Unilever who made Wisk detergent. He was a renaissance man because he liked to do many things in life which led him to become a photographer, and the maker of jerk and hot barbecue sauces that he sold at wine festivals in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia.

He met the love of his life, Marjorie Reed, at Dunn’s River Falls, Jamaica. They married in Newark, NJ in 1976 and resided in Corona and Laurelton, NY before moving to Somerset, NJ.

He joined First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, NJ where he served on the Usher Board for many years.

Eddie was preceded in death by three brothers, Rudolph, Clarence, and Winston Fearon. He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife Marjorie Reed Fearon. Three children, Karen (Austin) Fenner of Teaneck, NJ; Marc (Ruth) Fearon of Fairfax, VA; Eduard Douglass Reed-Fearon of Somerset, NJ; Sister, Esther Thomas of London, England; Six grandchildren, Tatiana, Julian and Summer Fenner; Carina, Mario and Gavin Fearon; In-laws, Jacqueline Reed of Milford, Delaware, and Harold S. Reed of East Orange, NJ; two special nephews, Cecil Reed, and Harold S. Reed, Jr. Host of other nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
