Julia Baltrop Obituary

Julia Nell Baltrop, daughter of the late Eddie Lee Gibson, Sr. and Jessie Ruth Gibson was born on September 5, 1950, in Grady Alabama. She departed this life peacefully on February 13, 2024 at St. Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Julia relocated with her family from Alabama to New Brunswick, New Jersey in her early childhood. As a child Julia loved and was loved by her siblings and her cousins who were raised as brothers and sisters. Julia was a graduate of Franklin High School in Somerset, New Jersey. She worked as a customer service representative for American Express for 35 years where she developed her life-long friendship with her dear friend Mary Kelley. Julia was a sincerely loved member of her tight-knit work community.

Julia met Robert Lee Baltrop (Bob) in her youth. Bob knew she would be his wife when they first met. Julia married Bob on August 23, 1969, in Somerset, NJ. Julia and Bob raised three children, Robyn, Kimberly and Robert II. Julia and Bob built a home together where they shared their values of self-reliance, and hard work.

Julia relocated to Macon, North Carolina with her husband Bob in 2012 where they lived together until his death in 2016.

Julia spent her life caring for her family and loved ones. She was a reliable provider, natural caregiver and fierce protector. While she would never boast, she was an accomplished cook and baker. Her children, nieces and nephews devoured her chocolate chip cookies and peach cobbler that she always served with love and with the warning that “they may not be that good”. Julia could always be counted on. Never wavering in her dedication to her family and friends. She was a pillar of strength, a confidant and trusted by family and friends to manage affairs when emergencies arose. She was a sweet spirit with a kind soul.

Julia’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and those who knew her best. She leaves to mourn her three children Robyn Williams (Jamie), Kimberly Baltrop, and Robert Baltrop, II (Diane) and her three grandchildren, Mekhi Williams, Myles Williams and Preston Baltrop and her loving siblings, Eddy Jennings (Wilbur), Charles Gibson (Effie) and Frances Warrick (Benjamin). She is predeceased by her brother Eddie Lee Gibson, Jr. (Sharon). Julia will also be remembered by her oldest niece and goddaughter Denise Jennings, her niece and goddaughter Rashida Wajid as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
