Karen Louise Bolster Hurtt lived a life defined by strength and love. Born on November 12, 1960, she passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 21, 2024.
The daughter of Milton K. Bolster and Louise V. Bolster, Karen grew up in Livermore, California and graduated Granada High School in 1979. Charismatic and ceaselessly kind, her earliest jobs allowed her to remain near family and explore new things. Later, after starting her own family, she also took on the role of mom—a job she always said she had wanted more than anything else.
Karen dedicated her life to her family and community. She was a devoted military spouse, helping to organize holiday events; a frequent volunteer, whether in the classroom, backstage at recitals, concerts, and plays, or on the sidelines at games; and a committed Girl Scout leader for Troop 333. She enjoyed reading, had a fondness for classic television shows, and loved to learn. Above all else, Karen brought endless light and warmth to the lives of others, as she was always open to listen and offer comfort through her embrace. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kevin T. Hurtt and her half-brother Milton.
Karen is survived by her three children, Alexandria, Keith, and Brianna; her sister Maylen; and her cherished nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
