Lawrence Darby Jr. Obituary

Lawrence Darby Jr. was born on February 3rd, 1988, a Wednesday morning in New Brunswick, NJ. He transitioned this life on August 5th, 2020, also a Wednesday morning. Relieved from the hardships attached to humanity, he is now reunited with his parents: Lawrence Darby Sr. (Deceased), and Irene Roslyn Darby, (Deceased). He leaves to cherish his memory: his siblings, Willie, Arteshia, Shonique, Evelyn, Sir Walter, Quashun, Alyvya and Da’von. A niece, Shayana and nephews, Mekhi and Morgan. Along with a host of cousins and friends.

Lawrence Darby Jr. was affectionately as “Man” by his family and friends; a nickname proven worthy of his caliber. He graduated from Franklin High School in 2006. Thereafter he worked different jobs to gain experience and to find what he was good at. Although he got stung by the hive of injustice and bitten by parental demise; Still, Man kept on standing, personifying strength. During his lifespan you could not convince Man that he was not the toughest, coolest, or shrewdest. The truth is, he kind of was. A smooth walking, slick talking, unsolvable puzzle. Try as you might, you couldn’t quite figure him out. But at the end of the day, you loved him anyway, and with him the love was always mutual.

Man defended his kin by any means necessary, whether right or wrong, he’d have your back unconditionally. Protectiveness of his family was just one of the main commendable qualities that made Man, Man. Displaying devotion through selfless acts of performance time and time again. In fact, his dying deed was an act of heroism. A true brave heart; strong minded and fearless. A leader who refused to follow or fold under pressure. That one in a dozen compunction about speaking their mind in the face of dissent; often to the extent where others might take offense to his outspokenness. And while courageous enough to keep keeping it real, voicing hard truths did not distract from his knack for producing laughter. The master of amusement, he was way beyond funny. His unpredictable antics were absolutely hilarious. His witty wisecracks brought tears to the eyes of its listener regardless of what side of the joke you were on. There can be no doubt about it, Man was a bonafide comedian in his own right. He found humor in almost everything despite travelling on a journey marked by trials, tribulations and adversity.

Man loved to splurge and spared no expense when it came to the things he enjoyed. He went from nearly bare racks to flashing stacks; from beans on a plate to shrimp, lobster and steak. Man ate great and it showed. He stayed dressed to impress. Donned in high-priced footwear and furs, the entire outfit had to match from his hat down to his socks. Indeed, a passion for fashion was Man’s guilty pleasure, just not to the point where material possessions controlled his decisions. He seized the opportunities that he received to enjoy life's finer things.

From beginning to end everyone he met has a memory that will stay with them forever. Every moment spent in his presence was guaranteed to leave a lasting impression. Those moments will be cherished. His sudden departure serves as a remembrance that life is precious. He will be dearly missed no less than forever. May he rest in perfect peace. Now, in the words of the late, great, Man, “I think it's time for everybody to have a goodnight!''
