Linnie Watson Obituary

Linnie Watson, 98, of New Brunswick, New Jersey went home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2022. She finished well and will be missed.

Linnie Watson was born in Millen, GA to the late Martha and Fred Mozee July 8, 1924. She loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. Linnie was a member of Needful Baptist Church in Millen, GA. She loved gardening and working on the family farm where harvesting various fruits and vegetables was part of daily life. She developed a deep love of cooking while growing up on the farm.

In search for new opportunities, she relocated to New Jersey from Georgia in the early 1940’s. Linnie met and married Joseph C. Watson Jr. shortly thereafter. Their union produced 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. She joined First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens where she attended until her passing.

Linnie was loved by so many. Her positive outlook, generous spirit, and kind heart left an impression wherever she went. She never met a stranger that did not quickly become a friend; she always went out of her way to help anyone in need and had an incredible sense of humor that will forever be remembered. She loved cooking, baking, and trying new recipes from the Food Network channel she so diligently watched. She was highly creative, making dolls and decorating her extensive hat collection. She was known in the community for her baking skills and was often called upon to bake cakes and pies for friends and family.

Linnie was entertained watching court TV programs during the day, then Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Wrestling in the evening.

Linnie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph C. Watson, Jr.; two brothers, Johnnie Herrington and Jasper Mozee; one sister, Georgia Knight; two sons, John and Michael Watson; and a daughter, Diane Bush.

She is survived by two children, Henry Watson (Ann) and Carol Watson; nine grandchildren: Jeremy Watson, Malcome Watson (Julie), Avery Browning (Joi), Corey Watson, Ebony Watson, Shannon Watson, Andre Sims, Jazmine Bush, and Edwin Bush; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Her family and friends will miss her presence in their lives but rejoices knowing she is in peace and resting as the good and faithful servant she was.
