Lorraine Angelita Bates, 67, departed this life on October 22, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ.
Lorraine was born on October 23, 1955, in Kingston, Jamaica. She received her primary education in Jamaica before moving to the United States. She continued her education at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY. She later moved to New Jersey and made Florence, NJ her home for the past 16 years.
Lorraine was a dedicated Registered Nurse at Lutheran Hospital for many years before retiring. Although she was battling an illness, she never let that stop her. She was a hard worker and loved what she did. So, she started working at the Neighborhood Clinic.
Lorraine was such a loving a kind person. She often donated regularly to St. Jude and Lupus Foundation. No matter where you met Lorraine her spirit was always the same. She never judged others, but rather showed love. Her heart was pure, and she lived a full life. She spent many days traveling around the world seeing new places and things. The world was her oyster. You could always find her reading books or cleaning up around the house. Lorraine was a woman of faith and prayed daily, and the testament of that was radiant through her life.
Lorraine was predeceased by her mother, Gladys Martin; her father, Elijah Bates; and a sister, Paula Bates.
She leaves behind to forever cherish her memories her son, Sean Dennis (Elsie); her daughter, Monifa Hepburn; her grandchildren: Charisma Hepburn, Elijah Dennis, Leonis Bellinger, and Jasmine Bellinger; her great-grandchildren, Carina and Corra Zuckowich; her brother, Michael Bates; her nephews: Omari Sinclair, Jahmarley Bates, and Justin Bates; a niece, Latty Lorraine Bates; a close family friend, Sonia Lewars; and a host of other relatives and friends.
