Louella Davis was born on June 26, 1942, in Vidalia, Georgia. The oldest of 9 children born to the late Willie Mae and Norman Jordan. She departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love and service on June 11, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Louella grew up in Vidalia, Georgia with her family. In her early adulthood she moved to Somerville, NJ where she resided for 60 years. Louella worked as a nurse’s aide for Lyons Veterans Hospital for 40 years before retiring in 2014. In her spare time, she loved to bake from scratch and those cakes were delicious! She loved to garden, and you could always walk into her house to her watching one of her favorite westerns on TV.
Louella’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of St. Thomas A.M.E Zion Church in Somerville, NJ where she served as Deaconess. She was also a member of the Steward Board and the Kitchen Committee.
Louella was a loving wife, mother, friend, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Her infectious smile and kindness towards others will never be forgotten.
Louella is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae and Norman Jordan; five siblings: Robert Lee Jordan, Evelyan Jordan, Auther Lee Jordan, Joe Nathan Jordan, and Diann Bryant; granddaughter Teona Davis
Cherishing Louella’s memory are her husband of 58 years, Raymond Davis; a daughter, Gloria Rhodes; a son, Raymond Davis; two sisters, Mary Spikes and Gail Hudgeon (Tommy); a brother, Lourinza Jordan (Alteria); her grandchildren: Mecale Davis, Jaclyn Davis, Jasmine Davis, and Raymond Davis, Jr., great grandchildren: Aaliyah, Alyvia, Alikai, and Altaron; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
