Louise Brokaw Obituary

Louise Sadler Brokaw was raised in New Brunswick by her parents, the late John and Monverdie Higgs Sadler. She attended public schools in the city alongside her three brothers Emery, Jasper, and John and her four sisters Thelma, Sirleen, Fannie, and Uderia, all of whom predeceased her.

Family was always the most important thing in the world to Louise. She was married to John “Honey” Brokaw for almost 50 years before his passing, and together they raised five children. She was the consummate wife and stayathome mom, baking cookies, sewing costumes, helping with school and church projects, and attending her children’s school and sporting activities. As her children grew older, she decided she could continue being a super wife and mom while also contributing to the family’s finances. Wanting to remain fully available to her family, she chose to become a school crossing guard. Louise not only ensured that every child who passed her corner got home safely, but she also offered each one a warm smile, a word of encouragement, a hug, and when needed, a hat, mittens, scarf, or even a meal.

God was always at the head of her life, and Ebenezer served as her church home for her entire lifetime. In addition to her faithful attendance at Sunday services, Louise served on the senior usher board. Greeting members and visitors with a sincere smile, a warm hello, and often a hug brought her great joy. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club, where she cherished the fellowship and the outreach, they provided to those in need. In recent years, her health affected her ability to attend church regularly, but it never diminished her faith or her love and concern for her family and friends.

Holding fast to her faith, her family, and her God, she found strength in every season of her life. When her journey here was complete, God gently called His precious angel home to be reunited with her beloved husband, Honey, and her cherished son, Steve.

She leaves a legacy of love in the hearts of her daughters Patricia and Jackie (Lawrence); her sons Gary (Renee) and Glenn (Diane); her daughterinlaw Sandy; her grandchildren Norelle (Eric), Ashley (Peter), Courtney, Sommer, Natalie, John Brendan, Dylan (Crissi), Erica, Tori, Jacob, Erica, and Shawn; her greatgrandchildren JaVaughn (Carla), Lyra, Evie, Olivia, Connor, Isabella, August, Evelyn, Sayon Jr., Noah, and Khole; and her greatgreatgrandson Noah.

The Brokaw/Sadler family also embraces a large circle of nieces, nephews, and cousins; some connected by blood, others by the deep bonds of love; all of whom will miss her warmth, her humor, her cooking, and the unwavering love she shared so freely.

Rest in peace, our beloved. Well done, my good and faithful servant… well done.
