Maceo Blackmon Obituary

Maceo (Noon) Blackmon born December 9th, 1932 in Kinston, NC the 3rd child of 9 to the late James and Mable (Joyner) Blackmon, departed this life on Friday, July 24th, 2026 at the Community Hospital in Toms River, NJ after a short illness.

Maceo, affectionately called “Noon” by his family, was educated in the North Carolina school system.  Shortly after gaining his GED he joined the United States Army. During his time in the military he served two tours in Vietnam as well as some time in Germany.  Maceo received countless awards and medals for outstanding service to include National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct, and Expert Marksman to name a few.  After honorably serving for 20 years he retired from the Army,  and started a second career with the Veterans Administration in East Orange NJ, until fully retiring.

After many years of service to the US Military, Maceo re-committed his life back to Christ.  He was a devoted church member for many years with The Kingdom Alliance Church, faithfully serving as Elder.  He was counselor, confidant, mentor and straight to the point, truth-teller in that unmistakable calm tone he was known and loved for.

Maceo leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Helena (Pertlow) Blackmon of Whiting, his sister, Mable Doris Blackmon of Morristown, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his devoted church family and friends.  He was predeceased by his 2 sisters Dorothy Blackmon, Arletha “Sis” Banks and 5 brothers John W. Blackmon, Theodore “Thedo” Blackmon, Frank Scott Blackmon, Robert Lee Blackmon and James Blackmon Jr.

With Gratitude

The Blackmon family expresses their deepest thanks and gratitude to all family, friends, neighbors and community for their love, support, prayers and well wishes during our time of bereavement.
