Marco Anthony Conyers, a lifelong resident of New Jersey, was born in Newark on April 14, 1972, and graduated from Colonia High School. He resided in Parlin until his passing on December 19, 2024.
After high school, Marco worked as a security officer and drove taxis. Both roles allowed him to connect with people and make them feel safe, which was always his desire. He had a great sense of direction and loved driving, almost like he had an internal GPS.
Marco lived life to the fullest. He was a railfan, with a deep appreciation for trains - their history, technology, design, and the experience of riding them. He visited the Barron Arts Center Holiday display each year.
He enjoyed music and attended many concerts and musicals with friends and family. Marco was also a “foodie” and had a healthy relationship with food and dining. Having seafood with his Mom and savoring a nice steak at Long Horn Steakhouse were two of his favorite indulgences. A faithful fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Marco loved sharing his enthusiasm about their triumphs and victories.
Another one of Marco’s passions was fire engines. He was committed to helping people and possibly saving lives. As a young man, he aspired to be a firefighter or an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), but health challenges prevented him from pursuing these careers. However, God had a way of fulfilling his desire. Recently, his family was notified that Marco was an organ donor, and his donation has already blessed several people with lifesaving organs, with more planned in the coming weeks. God knew Marco’s heart and granted his desire.
Marco leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Clara Smalls of Parlin, NJ; one sister, Shanique Smalls of Parlin, NJ; one aunt, Renee Harris of Florence, SC; one uncle, John Durant of Ellicott City, MD; and a host of extended family and friends.
This outgoing, funny, caring, and big-hearted man will be greatly missed and always treasured.
