Margaret E Pitts

Margaret “Washington” Pitts departed this life on September 29, 2021. She was born on October 15, 1930 to the late Percy and Bessie Washington. She met and married her late husband Rudolph Pitts and she relocated to Atlantic Highlands, NJ where she would spend the next 65 years. She was a beloved and faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church where she served in many roles over the years, and a pillar of the community.  Mrs. Pitts was predeceased by her twin brother Percy Washington Jr., brother, William D. Washington; parents Percy and Bessie Washington, infant son Alan Pitts, and husband Rudolph Pitts. 

She leaves to cherish her memory daughter Karen “Pitts” Jackson (Yves); Grandchildren Kem Cranshaw, Monique Cranshaw-Sanders, Benjamin Cranshaw II, and Yves Jackson II; ten great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, brother in law William H. Pitts Jr., and a host of nieces and nephews.

A viewing will take place at 10am Tuesday October 5, 2021 at the St Paul Baptist Church 7 W. Highland Ave. Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716 with a funeral service to follow at 12pm. Arrangements entrusted to Buckland Funeral Home Somerville, NJ.
