Marjorie W Brooks

Marjorie Wallace Brooks was born in Rocester, New York on October 14, 1926 to the late Chester and Mary Wallace. Marjorie departed this life peacefully on February 8, 2025 at the tender age of 98.

The Family moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey where Marjorie received her formal education. Marjorie loved reading and enjoyed going to the library in her childhood years. As a young adult, Marjorie attended Berkeley Business School and the Robert Walsh School of Stenography.

Marjorie met William H. Brooks in the early 1940s. They married on May 1, 1949. The young couple moved to East Orange, New Jersey. It was there that she joined Elmwood Presbyterian Church. This union produced one child, William H. Brooks, II. 

Marjorie loved gardening, baking and sewing. Marjorie was a doting Mom to her only Son, William and was a fixture at his Football Games. She could be heard above everyone cheering for the Panthers. 

Marjorie worked for over thirty years with the Federal Government in various offices including the Veterans Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, the Office for Dependency Benefits and the Veteran’s Hospital. 

Marjorie retired in 1994 and subsequently moved to East Brunswick,

NJ in 1996. Marjorie or Nannydeke as she was affectionately called by her Grandchildren, spent most of her time doting on her beloved Randi and Billy. Taking them to and from school and supporting their extra curricular activities.

Marjorie joined the New Hope Baptist Church in the year 2000 where she was a faithful member until her death. Marjorie loved her New Hope Family and her Pastor, Ronald Owens.

Marjorie leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her Son, William H. Brooks II (Sheryl); Step Daughter Kaye Howard (Robert); Granddaughter, Randyll E. Brooks, Grandson, William H. Brooks III, Sister in law, Akira, many Nieces, Nephews and adopted family member, Larry Johnson. Marjorie was preceded in death by her six brothers, Wilbert, Clarence, William, James, Lawrence and Robert, five Sisters in Law, Esther, Phyliss, Adrienne, Betty and Corene.
