Maxine Laverne Andrews was born as Maxine Laverne Adams on March 26,1949, in New Brunswick, NJ. She was the second child born to her parents, the late Julius and Fannie Adams. Maxine grew up in a loving, supportive Christian family. In addition to her parents, she grew up with four siblings - Julius Jr., Gwen, Phyllis and Deborah.
Maxine attended the New Brunswick School System, where she met the love of her life, William Andrews, Jr. On February 1,1969 Maxine was joined in holy matrimony to the late William Andrews, Jr. They had two children, Andre and Desiree. They loved and honored each other until William passed away in 1976.
When it came to family ties, Maxine was a woman who was devoted to her family and her friends. She adored Andre, Desiree and their families. In short, Maxine simply loved them beyond measure. Maxine also deeply valued the time spent with her sisters. She looked forward to visits, outings and their regular lunch and dinner gatherings. The joy of all these connections and more, became her impetus for remaining a resident of New Brunswick, New Jersey for life.
In her work life, Maxine was a caregiver, who faithfully labored as a child-care provider for many years. The testimonials of both the parents and the children that she served spoke fondly of her commitment, care, and reliability. Maxine’s zeal for the families for which she cared, spanned over more than three decades. Some of these past-parents and the now grown-up children she once cared for remained a part of her life until the very end. Apart from her time in childcare, Maxine was also a companion, employed by the State of New Jersey to aid local, homebound residents. Maxine was a nurturer and a helper who was faithful in her work.
In her faith life, Maxine was a Born-Again Believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a youth she attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Later, in her adult life Maxine attended Faith Fellowship Ministries in Sayreville, New Jersey.
Maxine loved the Lord so much that she could often be heard pleading the “Blood of Jesus”. Maxine was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for she knew it to be the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16)
Maxine was also fond of vacationing. This was another activity that she shared with her family. Maxine traveled in the USA, to Alaska and throughout the Caribbean. But her travel was not limited to this hemisphere. Maxine also traveled “across the pond” to Spain, Portugal, North Africa, and South America. Her last vacation was during the month of September in the year 2022, when she requested that her sisters take her on a cruise. They honored her cruise request, and they enjoyed themselves immensely.
She was a member of the New Brunswick Senior Citizens. Maxine knew everyone and was known by many members of The New Brunswick Community. She made multi-generational connections, touching the lives of the young, middle-aged and well-seasoned members of the New Brunswick Community. She will certainly be missed.
Maxine was predeceased by her Husband, William Andrews, Jr.; Parents Julius and Fannie Adams Sr.; Brother, Julius Adams, Jr.; Nephew, Dewan Jackson and Brother-in-Law, Manuel Delzo.
