Michael Frederick Obituary

Life Reflections

Michael Frederick was born on January 6, 1958 to the late Woodrow W Frederick, Junior and Shirley A Muse Frederick in Rosellle,  He was the first grandchild of his paternal grandparents, Woodrow Frederick, Sr  and  Mary Carter Frederick and the second of his maternal grandparents, Maitland P. Muse and Dorothy E Alston Muse, and was cherished by all.

His family relocated to Edison, NJ at the age of 7 where he attended  Edison Township schools.  Michael later completed 2 years of higher education at Rutgers, The State University of NJ.

Following his academic pursuits, Michael then took various positions, primarily in sales. Michael, like his dad, was a proficient conversationalist and artful in his ability to complete the sale. His charisma was alluring and if he smiled during an interaction with him—you were hooked!

Throughout his life, Michael sought happiness for everyone with whom he came in contact.  He never met a stranger whether it be out shopping with Aunt Phyllis in Walmart riding through the store on their twin scooters or whether he was making a business deal. He invariable developed a bond with whomever he came in contact. and he left a lasting impression—good, bad but NEVER indifferent. He was just that guy.

An avid car enthusiast, Michael was known  to stay current on the fine details of every make and model of car made, both foreign and domestic. He was always willing to engage in automotive conversation and offer advice on car purchases and repairs.  Additionally, Michael had deep interests in electronic and technology. His electronic  prowess started at an early age, tinkering with wires, stereo equipment  and appliances while other children were yet playing with Legos and Tonka trucks.
Michael also had a passion for music, jazz music in particular. He would often be heard crooning to jazz greats such as Anita Baker, Dionne Warwick, Will Downing and  Al Jarreau. Michael also enjoyed gospel music coming from Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar and Walter Hawkins. And as a youth, Michael could be found masterfully playing the Electric bass along side his brother, Kenny.

Lastly, Michael had stories. He told stories about the unique experiences in his life.  He told stories doting on his beloved nieces and nephews. He told warm and humorous stories about times with his dear friends. He even told stories in a lighthearted way about his health challenges to make people more at ease with his daily struggles.  In the end, he just wanted a little more time to show love to his family and friends—and God granted his request and he was so grateful.

Michael is predeceased by his father, Woodrow W. Frederick. He leaves to cherish his fond memory his mother, Shirley A Frederick; brother, Kenneth Frederick, his sister, the Reverend Karen Frederick-Martin (Elder Nathan Martin); 8 gifted and amazing nieces and nephews, his  beloved buddy and aunt, Phyllis Hundley; a host of family and friends and 1 special “like a daughter” Arsola Hooper. Please continue to pray for and stay connected with his family who is greatly impacted by Michael’s absence.
