Mindorian Mayo Obituary

Mindorian Mayo was born May 13, 1936 in Cuthbert Georgia, Randolph County, to the late Willie B. and Ella Mae Deleford.  She was called home July 23, 2019, in Piscataway, New Jersey.

She was partially raised by her Uncle Mose and Aunt Ozzie Lee Grier, in Cuthbert, Georgia.

In the early 60’s she met and fell in love with her husband, Ronald Mayo and on August 13, 1963 they entered into marriage in Cleveland, Ohio. They were blessed with six children. Unfortunately, a pair of twins passed away shortly after birth. They raised their family together in Cleveland before relocating to Queens, New York (Lefrak City) in 1977.

Mindorian, “Totsie” later known as “Angel”, was always the life of any conversation and a friend to everyone. She became known as the Pied Piper of the neighborhood. A title she gained because all the neighborhood kids gravitated to her. She adored and loved children. She lovingly “raised” too many neighborhood children to count; a testament to her giving spirit. Some of her many known passions was her keen eye for beauty evidenced by her acute sense of fashion and her intense love of flowers.

In 1995 the family migrated to Piscataway, New Jersey and shortly thereafter became members of Zion Hill Baptist Church.  Once again, her penchant for giving led her to join and serve with the Missionary Ministry, the Adult Gospel Chorus and the Triumph Mission Outreach offering comfort to those in various nursing homes. Additionally, she was a regular attendant to Sunday School and Bible Study.

Mindorian was predeceased by her siblings:  Richard Deleford, Bernice Coleman, Willy Ed Deleford, and, Barbara Jean Brown.

She leaves behind precious memories to all who knew her:

Her husband, Ronald Mayo, Sister, Betty Jean Massengale of Cleveland, Ohio, children Dwayne Mayo (deceased), Kim Taylor of Cleveland, Ohio, Anthony Mayo (spouse Leticia) of Piscataway, New Jersey, and Karen Mayo of Piscataway, New Jersey.
