NgocHa Thi Nguyen was born on February 6, 1938, in Vietnam.
Due to the on going Vietnam war, she moved all over South Vietnam but finally settled in the village of Phuoc Binh, Thu Duc District. It was here that she, along with her husband, Lac Van Nguyen (deceased), raised five children and sold refreshments in the local market. NgocHa and her family migrated to the USA in 1977 and resided in Summit, NJ where she worked in the cafeteria at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ. In 1986, the family moved to North Plainfield, NJ where she and her husband fostered many Vietnamese children over a period of 10 years. In 1998, she moved to Bridgewater, NJ where she resided with her eldest daughter’s family.
NgocHa is pre-deceased by her sister, Lan Huỳnh, and her brother,Sơn Huỳnh. NgocHa is survived by her sister, Kim Lien Huynh, brother, Tac Kim Huynh, and her children: daughter Hoang-Anh Nguyen and her husband Trung Ly; son Long Nguyen and his wife Ngoc Quyen Trinh; son Quan Nguyen; daughter HuynhNga Nguyen and her husband Vivek Rajgarhia; daughter Mia Murphy and her fiancé Philip Wisneski. Her adopted son Dung Nguyen resides in Texas with his two daughters.
Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren: Ryan Ly and his wife, Joy Lee; Meaghan Ly, Hayden NguyenTrinh, Evelyn NguyenTrinh, Brandon Nguyen, Ananya Rajgarhia and her husband KwanPo Cheng, Ashaan Rajgarhia, Ashali Rajgarhia, Avery Murphy and Halley Murphy.
When NgocHa arrived in the USA at 39 years old, she learned English and how to drive in order to commute to her job. Some of her hobbies include cooking, gardening and watching serials in Vietnamese. She also loved taking care of her grandchildren later on. She was a very active woman and was always on the go opting for the freedom of a peritoneal dialysis versus a hemodialysis which lasted for five years before she received a kidney transplant. In her later years, NgocHa traveled extensively with her children, including going on many cruises, which was her favorite way of visiting different countries.
