Precious Brooks

Precious Brooks, 81 years old of South Plainfield, New Jersey was born in Camden, Mississippi on October 26, 1941, and passed away on August 4, 2023. Precious was affectionately known by her loved ones as “Aunt Bay”. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and best friend. Precious was known for her kind and nurturing nature, and her “heart of gold”. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

Born Precious Alfred, she was raised in Newark, New Jersey and completed school through the Newark school system. Precious was married to Hayward Brooks on September 22, 1962. For 61 years they shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. Precious is survived by her devoted husband, Hayward Brooks, her loving daughter Monique Jemerson her sister Vinnie Travis, and her grandchildren Shakirah Tinsley, Terrance Brooks, Jerome Brooks and Idris Brooks. She was also loved by her extended family, leaving behind a host of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren who will always love her.

Precious had a special passion for Maltese puppies, and she shared this love with her family. She gifted them with several of her beautiful puppies, ensuring that her legacy of love for these furry companions would continue. Her beloved dog Sparkle, who brought her so much joy and comfort, also survives her.

Precious was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Elizabeth Alfred, her sisters Sarah and Barbara Alfred, her brothers Odie, Elvie, and Simon Alfred, her son Russell Brooks, her granddaughters Tiffany and Nyjeera Brooks, and her beloved dog Gucci. While her absence leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, they find solace in the treasured memories they shared with her.

In honor of Precious "Aunt Bay’s” life, her family will be holding a memorial service on Thursday August 24, 2023, at 10:00 am at Cathedral International located at 277 Madison Avenue, Perth Amboy, New Jersey 08861. She will forever be remembered as a compassionate loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and best friend who touched the lives of many. May her soul find eternal peace.
