Richard L. Anderson, loving father, husband, pop-pop, brother, uncle and dear friend has passed away. Rick, as he was fondly known to most, died peacefully at home in Roselle, on December 14, 2020. Rick was pre-deceased by his parents Elma and Linwood Anderson and brother Leonard Anderson.
Born on June 7, 1952, in Baltimore, MD, it was there that Rick, although young, found his fondness for crabs. Even after moving to Orange, NJ this was a childhood memory that never left. Rick developed a great passion for music, and became a well-known mobile DJ; known to many as Rick - A Man and His Music.
After graduating Orange High School, Rick began a successful career at Merck as a Biologist. It was at Merck that Rick met and married Jennifer Morris and from that union Danielle Nicole Anderson was born. He later married Evelyn Mitchell and became the proud step-father to Leslie.
Rick loved music and continued a thriving disc jockey and party host business where he continued to follow his dreams and entertain. He was the life of the party and everyone loved him and his music. Rick also had a love for animals and if he had it his way, he would’ve had a menagerie of pets. His dog Sam passed away earlier this year.
Rick’s greatest joy and love were his family and friends and they will all miss him dearly. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Danielle Anderson of Linden, N.J., brother Steve Anderson of Orange, N.J., sisters Tia Sullivan of Montclair, N.J. and Michelle Anderson of Bloomfield, N.J., sister-in-law Monica Anderson of Orange, N.J., brother-in-law David Sullivan, nephew Tim Hoffman, nieces Daria and Tamara Sullivan of Montclair, N.J., Evelyn Anderson of Monroe Twp., N.J., step-daughter Leslie Walker & son-in-law Brandon Walker, grandchildren Jaelyn Byrd, Janae and Jaxson Walker of Greensboro, N.C., Lifetime best friend John Stevens of Roselle, N.J., Kim Stevens and goddaughter Jordyn Stevens of Roselle, N.J.
The family will hold a virtual memorial service on Saturday, December 26th at 11am hosted by the Buckland Funeral Home at bucklandfuneralhome.com.
