Samuel Cole lV, affectionately known as Sammy Cole “Wiz” was born to the late Samuel Cole III and Marian Cole on February 4, 1966 in Elizabeth NJ.  He departed this life, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, January 20, 2021.

From an early age Sam was an avid lover of all sports.  He began with little league baseball, which was unknown to many, his actual 1st love, but it would be his skills on the basketball court that solidified him as a ROSELLE LEGEND.   As part of the three musketeers, the Rams achieved All City, All County, and All State recognition and was named 1986’s UCC Hoop Star. In a quote from the Daily Journal, “Sam Cole, of Roselle playing for Union County College men’s basketball team is like Magic Johnson playing for Rutgers.”  *****

After graduating from Abraham Clark High School in 1984, Sam began his life’s journey with a full basketball scholarship to Coastal Carolina University, in Conway South Carolina and continued to captivate hearts everywhere he went.  He appreciated life and lived it freely…on his own terms and without regret.  He made many friends throughout his journey, touching each in his own very personal and special way.

Sam was a brother, and uncle and always a soldier, a mentor to the young, a confidant and a true friend.  He had the gift of conversation and an uncanny knack of uplifting everyone in his presence.

He had immeasurable love for family, with a special bond with his nephew Colby and niece Jordan.  Sam [d1] inherited the strength and charisma of his father Sam and embodied the loyalty and compassion of his mother Marian, [ His Rock}. When he left us on January 20th he joined them both……..whole.  JOURNEY COMPLETE.

Sam leaves to cherish his memories his loving sister, Dr. Veronica Glover (Brother-n-law Jerry Glover) of Dayton, N.J., nephew, Colby Trey Chadwick, niece, Jordan Arianna Wilborn, grand-niece, Kennedy Jacques, aunt(s) Mae McIntyre and Betty J. LeGrand and a host of other relatives and close friends.
