Saundra Gregory was born on September 8, 1945, in Orange, New Jersey, to her loving parents, Odessa Talmadge and Peter Gregory. She was raised in a home filled with strength, support, and unwavering love. From a young age, Saundra carried a vibrant spirit that naturally drew people to her. Her kind heart, joyful presence, and ability to bring light into any room became her signature throughout her life. After spending her early years in Orange, she moved to Plainfield, New Jersey, where she continued to build a life rooted in love and community. In 2010, Saundra made her final move to Maricopa, Arizona, embracing a new chapter with grace and resilience.
Those who knew Saundra remember her laughter, full, warm, and contagious. She had a remarkable gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Her caring nature touched everyone she encountered, and her generosity of spirit made her a blessing to family, friends, and all who crossed her path. Saundra was, in every sense, a gift to the world.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Duane Darin Young; her mother, Odessa Talmadge; her father, Peter Gregory; and her step‑father, Norman Talmadge.
Saundra leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted daughter, Jamilliah Young of Maricopa, AZ, and her devoted son, Maurice Young, of Piscataway, NJ. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Steven Gregory; her nephew, Kareem Gregory; her devoted daughter‑in‑law, Katie Young; and her special friends, Amelia Rice of Gilbert, AZ, and Cheryl Blake of Orange, NJ.
She is cherished by her five grandchildren: Karima (Taj Hurley), Duane (Agina Young), Klarke Young, Miles Young, and Mande Edwards; as well as her special granddaughter, Ari Smith, whose bond with Saundra was deeply treasured.
She also leaves a special bond with her great‑grandchildren: Camron Jordon, Apollo Young, Dominic Young, Miles Young, Jr., and Solea Young, her very special dog Bubba Young and a host of nieces, extended family members, and very close friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her, through the joy she shared, the love she gave, and the beautiful moments she created.
