Stanley Setal was born in St Mary, Jamaica W.I. on April 12, 1952, to Emmanuel Setal and Rosamond Warburton-Setal. He was the sixth of 9 siblings – Fred, Ruth, Gladys (deceased), Ronald, Elsie, (deceased), Clara, Sheila, Eleanor.
He attended Enfield Primary School and later move from St Mary to Kingston where he resided with his beloved sister Gladys and her Husband Lancelet while he sought employment. Stanley was employed at the Jamaica Telephone Company where he was a member of the JTC Table Tennis Association. He retired from Jamaica Telephone Company in 1989 after 20+ years of service and emigrated to the United States. He lived in Connecticut for a few years and later moved to New Jersey. Once in New Jersey he was employed by Comcast Cable Company, nee Storer Cable (now Xfinity), as a Cable Technician. He retired in 2014 after 24 years of employment.
Stanley was one of the most down-to-earth, outspoken, compassionate, kind, generous, giving people anyone could ever meet. After the passing of his father, he assumed the role of dad to his younger sisters Clara & Sheila and made sure they kept out of trouble. He was a friend to everyone, especially his childhood friends who he would call regularly and reminisce on old times. He was never afraid to strike up a conversation with strangers and make new friends. The first time you met him he made you feel so comfortable you would think you had known him all your life. He never carried a grudge; he would tell you like it is without any malice.
Stanley loved playing and listening to all types of music. When it comes to the lyrics of his favorite songs, he had the memory of an elephant, he knew all the lyrics, word for word. He was an excellent swimmer, and enjoyed watching all types of sports, his favorite was tennis, cricket, soccer, and wrestling. He was an avid card and domino player. Stanley was a fantastic cook, there was never enough of his saltfish fritters, curried goat/chicken and jerk pork to go around.
Stanley married the love of his life Rosita (Rose) in 1994. They celebrated 30 years of marriage on May 7, 2024.
Stanley departed this earth peacefully on August 5, 2024, to take his place beside his Lord and Savior. Surviving him are his wife Rosita, children (son Rondal, son Ron and wife Evanda, son Rohan, daughters Diana, Fiona, Kichema, Monique, and Ketanya), brothers and sisters, grandchildren, a great grandchild, and countless other nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He will be forever missed.
