Suzette Sanders Obituary

Sis. Suzette Sanders departed this transitory life and received her angel wings on February 6, 2021 at the age of 60.  She was born in Plainfield, NJ on January 31, 1961 to Mattie B. Ivey and Clifton B. Ivey, who proceed her in death. Also proceeding her death were her brothers, Robin B. Ivey, Arthur F. Ivey and sister, Gina Valcarcel.

Sis. Suzette graduated from Piscataway High School class of 1979. After graduating high school, she received her cosmetology license from Dudley School of Cosmetology.  She then worked with her grandmother, Estelle Reid at Elite Beauty Bar in Plainfield, NJ.  She was a beautician for over 40 years.  Styling hair was something she loved and could do so well.  During this time, she met and fell in love with Cedric K. Sanders, Sr. Sister Suzette and Cedric were married for 41 years.  From the union, they have two children, Shanea and Cedric Jr., and stepson Rahshon Kelly.  She was employed at Chubb & Son Insurance Company for 35 years until she retired.  While employed, she was a part of the company’s choir, minority development counseling committee and bowling team. 

Sis. Suzette was a devoted member of Shiloh Pentecostal Church in Somerville, NJ for 19 years.  She was the leader of the women’s ministry, served as choir, pastor aide, trustee member and many other capacities.  She absolutely loved spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo, bowling, shopping, travelling, and going out to eat.  She loved to joke around and make people smile.  She participated with CASA, helping women of domestic violence.  She was a people-person that was favored by many and loved by all.  She was known as “NANA” to everyone. 

Sis. Suzette is survived by her husband Cedric; Shanea (daughter); Cedric Jr. (son); Rahshon Kelly (stepson);  six grandchildren: Zymier Stevens, Jayden Cobb, Jeremiah Sanders, Lily Reeves, Devon and Maximus Kelly, three sisters: Shirley A. Ivey, Terri Franklin, (Rob) and Kimberly A. Ivey (Daryl); mother-in-law, Essie M. Sanders (who loved her as a daughter), 1 sister-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, godchildren, and a host of friends.
