Trevor Lamar McGill, Sr. was born on January 27,1990 to Vylisha LaTonya (Bell) Shabazz. He was affectionately known as Boobie, Gimme and Bro to many. God welcomed Trevor home on Sunday, February 20, 2022.
Trevor was born and spent his early years in Somerville, NJ where he was well known, loved, and active. He was a skilled drummer, singer, and entertainer from the time he could walk. Memories of a tiny 5 year old hoisting quad drums down Main Street in parades brings a smile to everyone’s face. He loved his drill team days. The competitions and comradery brought him joy and allowed him to shine.
His athleticism and love for sports was most notably displayed through football. He enlarged the circle of people who loved and embraced him when he moved to Somerset, NJ in 1999. He continued to thrive as an artist and athlete throughout his life.
Trevor was so loved and kept his loved ones laughing. His legacy will forever live on in the music and videos he left for us to cherish. “Gimme” could sing and rap with such skill and range. He collaborated and honed his craft with friends who were doing the same and just wanted to see each other win. His swag, bright eyes, and charming smile were captured in his videos and pictures.
Trevor was predeceased by his great aunt, Lillie Bell Thorpe whose name he proudly wore across his chest. He is survived by a host of people near and far that loved him beyond words. He and Aida Fortis blessed us with 3 beautiful children to love on in his absence; his namesake, Trevor Jr.,Travis; courtesy of what he was called by his Aunt Lillie, and "Daddy Baby" Tatianna. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother Vylisha Shabazz (Malik), his brother Vijon and sisters BreAna, Mizjayiah, Kali, Khloe, Bella, and Farrah, niece Bhrde, his grandmother Liza McGill (Grams), grandfather Howard Bell (Squirrel), great grandmother Ruth Lee, aunts Tamara and Erika McGill and Ayuna Brown, great aunts Mary Black, Tammy Brake (Earl) and Marie Bell, great uncle John McGill, and a host of other relatives and friends. Trevor’s family, extended family, and friends will carry him in their hearts forever. His music will grace us with his voice and presence as we hold on to our love for him.
