William Donald Parker, Sr. passed away peacefully on January 20, 2018 at JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ at the age of 81. Funeral Services will be held at The Cathedral International 277 Madison Ave. Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. Viewing at 1pm & the Service at 2pm.
William, known and called by his middle name Donald, was born in Virginia on June 29, 1936. His parents Helen S Wilson and Clarence Wilson eventually moved to Newark, NJ where he grew up. Donald attended South Side High where he met his high school sweetheart Barbara “Polly” Simons. Upon graduating, he joined the US Air Force and was deployed to Newfoundland for his tour of duty. He took a furlough to come home and marry Polly in October of 1956. Honorably discharged, Donald returned home and found employment at Sea-Land Service in Port Newark as a Longshoreman and became a Foreman in later years. He was a member of NYSA-ILA Local 1233 and retired in 2004 after 41 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Parker; Brothers: Ronnie Wilson of California and Michael Wilson of NJ; Aunt Romaine Pradia of California; Uncle Howard Parker of Washington D.C; Cousins Geneva “Sissy” Ortiz & John Barcliffe of NJ; Sons: Donald Jr. and wife Rhonda, Ryland and wife Andrea; Daughter: Diane Hebron Parker; Nine Grandchildren; Eighteen Great Grands; Two Great Great Grands and a host of other family members and friends.
