Winston C Harewood

It is with love, gratitude, and deep respect that we remember Winston Cuzon Harewood, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by perseverance, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family.

Winston, affectionately known as Wins, Winnie, Big Lion and Landlord was born on August 15, 1937 in Panama, the Republic of Panama. He was the first of six children born to Kenneth A. Harewood and Iceline Harewood. He lived a life marked by hard work, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to creating opportunities for future generations. On June 19, 2026, God called His son home, bringing to a close a life richly lived and deeply cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Winston was raised by his maternal grandparents, Clifton and Geraldine Graham, whose love, guidance, and values helped shape the man he would become. He shared an especially close bond with his grandfather, whose influence remained a source of strength and inspiration throughout his life. It was with his grandparents where he began his faith journey as part of the Christian Mission Church.

As a young boy, Winston enjoyed swimming, playing marbles, and spending countless hours on the baseball field; he played third base and developed a lifelong love for the game. That passion continued well into adulthood, when he proudly played the same position in the over-40 league, Junta, in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1963, Winston married the love of his life, Beverly, (his Babes) beginning a partnership built on love, dedication, perseverance, and mutual respect. Together, they made the courageous decision to move to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities. They were married for 56 years.

After arriving in the United States, Winston established a career in hospitality, where his strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Beverly was a banking professional, and together they worked tirelessly to create a stable and loving home for their family.

Winston and Beverly purchased a three-family home in Queens, New York, where they raised their two beloved children, Angela and Omar. Their home was a place of love, laughter, and community, reflecting the values they worked so hard to instill in their family.

Winston also had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed listening to many different genres throughout his life. He was especially fond of jazz, soca, and calypso. Music often filled his home and brought comfort and joy to family gatherings. It was not unusual to hear the sound of jazz on Friday evenings as Winston prepared his renowned kingfish for his family, creating cherished memories around the dinner table that will be remembered for generations.

Much to the dismay of many New Yorkers, Winston was a devoted Boston Celtics fan as well as a New York Yankees supporter. His

loyalty to his favorite teams reflected a defining characteristic of his life—when he gave his support, it was unwavering and enduring. Whether it was family or friends, His steadfast loyalty was one of his endearing qualities.

Upon retirement, Winston and Beverly relocated to Palm Bay, Florida, where they embraced a new chapter of life. Demonstrating the same determination and hands-on spirit that defined him throughout his years. Winston took great pride in building their retirement home and welcoming their grandchildren Omar Jr., Ashleigh and Tiara for summer vacations as well as other family and friends. His church home was with Allen Chapel AME Church of Melbourne, FL where he faithfully attended every Sunday.

Winston will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his strong character, his love of sports, and his determination to build a better future for those he loved. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Beverly Jean Harewood, his brothers Webster (Baby) Harewood and Ernesto Harewood and his sister Ophelia Edwards. To cherish his legacy, he leaves behind his daughter Angela Drummond and son-in-law Richard Drummond, his son Omar Harewood Sr. his brothers Roberto Harewood and Toribio Harewood, seven grandchildren Omar Harewood, Jr., Ashleigh Drummond, Tiara Harewood, Nazaya Harewood, Wisdom Harewood, Jammall Harewood and Jasmine Matthews, his great-grandson Kareem Carter Harewood, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Though he will be deeply missed, Winston’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
